Sarah has been a qualified Solicitor since 2002. She is Joint Head of Actions Against the Police Department.
Between 1998 and 2004, Sarah was employed by Madden & Finucane Solicitors, representing the majority of the families of the deceased and the wounded before the Bloody Sunday Inquiry. She also gained professional experience of Family and Criminal Law during this time.
Sarah is a member of Lawyers for Palestinian Human Rights. She is also a member of the Police Action Lawyers Group and Inquest Lawyers Group. Sarah has been listed in Chambers and Partners Directory since 2009. Her 2013 entries describe her as a ‘leading light in the police action and inquest areas’.
Sarah specialises in matters relating to Actions Against the Police and Public Law. Her caseload encompasses Public and Private Law challenges to the police and/or other statutory bodies. She also represents the families of those who have died in police and prison custody during investigations by the police or Prison and Probation Ombudsman at the inquest. Sarah also works on a number of multifaceted complaints and actions against the police involving serious racially aggravated assaults, wrongful arrest, misfeasance in public office and breaches of the Human Rights Act. She has a significant number of clients who are pursuing claims for race, disability and/or transgender discrimination. She has taken action on behalf of several clients in relation to breaches of international and domestic law arising out of the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
