The Case
On 21st March, Mohammad Farooq was sentenced following his conviction for plotting an attack on St James’s Hospital in Leeds. Prior to trial, he had pleaded guilty to possessing an explosive substance with intent to endanger life, firearms offences, and the possession of terrorist material.
During the trial at Sheffield Crown Court, the jury heard how Farooq, a 29-year-old clinical support worker from Leeds was found on 20 January 2023 on hospital grounds by an inpatient, carrying an improvised bomb, knives, and an imitation firearm.
