met ordered to pay damages to police officer

Our Daniel Cooper has successfully represented his client, who is gay, and a serving police officer, and who brought proceedings against the Metropolitan Police for false imprisonment, assault and battery, breaches of the Human Rights Act 1998 (Articles 3 and 8 of the European Convention of Human rights) and discrimination under the Equality Act 2010.

Daniel successfully assisted his client to secure damages plus the entirety of his legal costs. These events have had the most profound impact on our client and he has questioned his career as a police officer, and particularly whether he, as a gay man, has a part in a modern police force.
